You can’t go wrong devoting Thursday to Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Chopper Time show. It delivered beyond my highest expectations with the biggest turnout of custom bikes ever and of course Roadside Marty was there keeping the biggest ever crowds laughing as he delivered his smack-down commentary on each builder. It was off to the races from there, just in time to catch the normally hilarious Bubba Blackwell get serious as he jumped 12-trucks and cars in front of the stands inside Daytona International Speedway as he kicked off the American Flat Track season. Flat track racing was full of elbow to elbow fight-it-out excitement (with a big jump added to the middle of the track) and here in Daytona, the Hooligans made it big time at such a fancy venue rather than most of the Hooligan style in-your-face tracks we usually see them at. Main Street picked up over the previous few nights as the second weekend crowd started appearing on the scene and fun for me, I popped into the Bank Saloon just as Paul Martin from HD (the guy that has put the colors and graphics on your tanks for years!) got on stage and wailed on his harp (harmonica) with the great Kenny Duda and Razorbacks.
