The AMD World Championship of Bike Building was a great success with top awards going to Suicide Customs from Japan. The show included a diverse representation of brands and styles, although customs built on Harley’s took the lions share of awards. Their were some oddities as well, like a red sidecar with 4-sheels and a Sportster motor hanging off the side and an art deco sidecar rig with Ural bottom end and Panhead top-end! It was all great to see and try to figure out. The show was held in Hall 10 of Koelnmesse, which was one of 6 halls that comprise Intermot and the one that they have dedicated to custom. In total, this motorcycle fair occupied almost 1.4 million square feet (not counting a substantial amount of space outdoors that was also used) and attracted 220,000 visitors from 95 countries. More than 1,330 companies exhibited their wares from 40 countries. This is one huge motorcycle extravaganza, and I feel lucky I was able to witness it.
