“Michael Lichter’s Biker Generation” at the Thunder Road

Michael will have more than 40 of his limited edition prints on display in a gallery space set up within Thunder Road, a 40,000 square foot structure that was permanently erected on Highway 34 east of Sturgis, between the Glencoe Campground and Full Throttle Saloon. In addition to the exhibit, Michael will be set up to shoot motorcycles for bike features for Easyriders in his traveling studio. More than ten bikes will get photographed during the week by some of the most famous builders in the industry. Due to Michael’s busy schedule photographing the entire Sturgis event for a 32 page supplement to Easyriders and V-Twin in addition event articles in the magazines, his schedule shooting the bike features will not be able to be announced in advance.

August 7 - 14 / Rapid City, SD
“Bob’s Back with David Mann, Old School biking returns to the Journey Museum”

The roots of custom motorcycling inspired this exhibition which Michael has produced for the Journey Museum. He has assembled more than a dozen “Bobber” style bikes, which reflect a style of motorcycle in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, to accompany a retrospective display of original paintings by David Mann, the artist who chronicled the motorcycle culture from the 1960’s through recent times. This is the 4th consecutive year that Michael has produced a motorcycle theme show for the Journey Museum (although he is not including his own photography in the display this year) and again, Tuesday will be the BIG day. For the second year, Metzeler Tires will be sponsoring an all-day ride in show, which will be followed by an open to the public reception from 4:30-8:30pm. Even though Michael will not be exhibiting his own work in the museum this year, as the producer of the show, he will be at Tuesday’s reception. This show has been made possible through the support of Metzeler Tires, Segal Fine Art (who represents David Mann & his new series of limited edition prints) and Joe Teresi (who loaned David’s originals for the show) and bike builders/owners including Billy Lane, Hank Young, Chica, David Edwards (Cycle World Editor,) Brian Klock, sculptor Jeff Decker, Jose de Miguel (from Puerto Rico), Brent Mayfield and Shane Bender.
